History of Target One
Humble Beginnings
An Old RV Showroom and Saturday Nights
Some of you around the Martinsburg area might remember our location as the old Martinsburg RV building up on the hill. Some with better memories might even remember as the go-cart track. But it provided everything needed to start a brand new ministry. The main room provided a large area for corporate worship. The old sales offices were converted to children’s classrooms. The men’s room door might have opened into the sanctuary, but that never stopped us from praising the Lord!

From the very beginning, Target One set out to do things a little different. Original services were Saturday nights and focused on praise and worship. Pastor Phil delivered a short message he referred to as a “challenge.” It wasn’t long until many attending expressed interest in more usual Sunday services.

Sunday Mornings
At first, T1 held both Saturday Night worship services and Sunday morning church. But the rigorous schedule took a toll on Pastor and staff and the decision was made to concentrate on Sunday mornings. Pastor Phil edified the congregation with full length sermons and children’s Sunday school was provided.

New Saturday Nights
Saturday nights took on a different meaning and played host to picnics and carry-in dinners, family game nights, movie nights and other activities to build relationships among the congregation and open our doors to others in the community to come and check us out.

The Big Remodel

Ground Breaking
After 10 years of ministry growth we began planning an addition. After years of planning and revising, adjusting for economic challenges and praying that we were in the Lords will, we broke ground on April 13th, 2025. Over the next 6 months, a wing of new classrooms, church office and a proper lobby came into being. It was also an opportunity to remodel our worship center with a larger stage, better lighting and sound and fresh paint.
